On Saturday it's time! Final in Sweden's most difficult pike fishing competition, the Swedish Pike Open. The competition we call the Swedish Pike Championship individually! Four months of qualifying are followed by the grand finale at Dragsö Sportfiskecamp in Blekinge!
What a qualifier it has been! The qualifier winner, Fredrik Lind, took the lead in mid-June when he reported a string of fine fish on one board and recorded 578cm! On the 29th of June, Fredrik reported a magical fish of 130 cm and even then it started to smell like victory when he registered a total of 599 cm! The winning streak was finally 130, 124, 124, 114 and 113 cm and crazy 605 cm!!!! Big congratulations again Fredrik, crazy good fishing!
As number two we find Daniel Löf at 587 cm! Daniel came on strong at the end of August and went from a stable fourth place to second via two fish 115 and 119 cm reported on August 28! In the end, the suite was a nice 125, 119, 115, 115 and 113 cm. Big congratulations Daniel!
As third finds we former finalist Jonatan Nellfors, he also worked hard at the end, for a long time he was below the top five with at the end of August he reported a crazy dream fish of 130 cm and ended up with a total of 582 cm with the suite of 130, 117, 114, 111 and 110 cm
Number four became a girl! Very funny, we have far too few women in the competition! Jenny Nyberg was in the Top Five for a long time during the competition period, quickly put together a good result, in the middle of June she was second! The final result was 582 cm (same as Jonatan but shorter longest fish) with the suite 127, 126, 113, 110 and 106 cm! Well done Jenny and welcome as the first woman in the final!
So number five! Emil Ståhl (Petter Andersson was prevented) Emil fished a total of 571 cm, good there!
Sixth and drawn finalist was Kim Hägglund according to the random generator! Place no. 14 in the qualifier with a fine 547 cm divided into 122, 115, 105, 104 and 101 cm!
In the final, the most fish caught counts! We use the "leader touch" method to be able to gently release fish without having to pick them up. Only spin fishing is allowed in the final and only artificial lures.
All six finalists compete with a local guide and two finalists in each boat and an official. Winner takes all! SEK 10,000 sponsored by Atlantica Båtförsäkringar, a Raymarine Elements and an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur SPO Edition!
Follow the final on Fishy.nu, blackout period begins at 1400. Around 1830 the winner will be revealed via a live broadcast award ceremony on FishEco's Facebook here!
